Lira Clinical’s Chicago stop on their Purely Clinical 2.0 Global Skin Affair Tour 2025 was hosted in one of the dazzling rooms in The Westin O’Hare beneath glass bulbs that clustered like crystalized soap suds. The first thing I noticed when I walked in, was the room’s split layout: half banquet tables for the breakfast reception that kicked off the day-long course, half rows of tables facing a PowerPoint, a table with products and a treatment table. It's a perfect symbol of business and pleasure. Everyone in the room mingles easily—most of them seasoned estheticians—laughing and chatting like old friends, a tone set by Lira Clinical’s close team. The warmth effused by the sense of camaraderie makes me think of the adage: “If you do what you love…”
In an industry characterized by professionals’ dedication to adapting, evolving and refining their craft, Lira Clinical honors them well. The class starts with enough materials to bring me back to my days at university, complete with Lira’s very own clinical manual, brochures, a note-taking sheet to accompany their presentation, as well as product samples. Those who attended also received additional course codes for further study at their convenience. Attending estheticians were also able to count the course towards their continuing education hours.
“The premise of Purely Clinical 2.0 is that, fusion between medical and aesthetics is really becoming blurred, and so with that, maintaining and making sure that our licensed skin care professionals know how far they can go, as well as what their limits are,” says Tiffany Fraedrich, director of international education. “Also, understanding that the stratum corneum is a live layer of the skin, and the fact that most people were taught in school that it’s dead layers and only for beautification, but we do have the opportunity to manipulate products when they have the proper delivery system to be able to truly change the function of the skin back to its healthy and natural, youthful state.”
Some of the major topics of conversation included key ingredients featured by Lira Clinical, like shikimic acid, which is ideal for clients who suffer from acne. Additionally, the Lira Clinical team encouraged estheticians to excite the skin and not to shy away from body treatments: a perfect segue to announce the made-for-body version of their PRO Corrective Pads currently in the works for hyperpigmentation. The audience was also impressed by Lira Clinical’s tinted SPF products, like their SPF Solar Shield 30 and BBs, both SPF 30, which can give buildable coverage and a silky glow to every shade of skin. While SPF 50+ is what’s typically recommended, Lira Clinical says the trifecta of a good product lies in its safety, efficacy and how enjoyable it is to use. SPF 30 is the balance they’ve struck for a product that clients will love reapplying throughout the day, thereby maximizing results. Other noteworthy products included their HEALTH Recovery Balm, which can even be used on burns, their ever-revered peels and long-time favorites, like their brightening products. On the business side of the curriculum, the Lira Clinical team went over the benefits of the before-and-after pictures, the importance of social media and the persistence of word-of-mouth efficacy. In return, they heard feedback from estheticians regarding professional sizes in products and the benefits of product samples in building retail momentum with clients.
The Purely Clinical 2.0 Global Skin Affair Tour 2025 has several more upcoming dates this year, with the next one being August 11, in Seattle, WA.
