[NEW YORK, NY] Jan. 14, 2026Wellness technologies, including red light therapy, PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field therapy), infrared sauna, blue light blocking and EMF blocking devices, have skyrocketed in popularity in the past year, becoming key staples of modern wellness routines across the globe, according to a new report from BON CHARGE.

As the whole world starts to take more notice of full-body wellness, mental wellness inclusive, wellness technologies have had room to spread their wings and work their way more prominently into consumers' lives, revered for their multifunctionality.

Based on a global survey of 7,000 adults across the US, UK, UAE and Australia, BON CHARGE's first-ever Global Wellness Technology Report highlights how two in three users of each of these wellness technologies adopted using them in the last 12 months, proving that wellness tech isn’t just growing, it’s surging.

Key findings found that a third (31%) of US adults now use red light therapy, rising to over half (53%) amongst those aged 18-34. PEMF is another wellness technology growing in popularity in the US, particularly amongst those under 35—one in five (20%) US adults now use PEMF, rising to over a third (35%) amongst those under 35.

People in the US are using PEMF:

  • To relieve pain: 47%, men: 49%, women: 44%
  • To accelerate the body's natural healing processes at a cellular level: 39%, men: 40%, women: 38%
  • To reduce inflammation: 37%, men: 39%, women: 34%
  • Because they saw an influencer/celebrity post about it: 28%, men: 31%, women: 22%

EMF-blocking devices have also experienced a rapid rise in popularity, particularly amongst those under 35—one in five (19%) US adults now use them, rising to 43% amongst adults under 35.

In the US, of EMF-blocking device users:

  • 17% have used them for the first time in the past 3 months
  • 43% in the last six months
  • 70% in the last year
  • 86% in the last 2 years
  • Only 14% of those who use EMF-blocking devices, have been using them more than 2 years

Infrared sauna is another wellness technology proving popular with US adults, particularly amongst adults under 35—almost a quarter (23%) of US adults now use them, rising to almost half (49%) amongst adults under 35.

In the US, of infrared sauna users:

  • 19% have used them for the first time in the past 3 months
  • 41% in the last six months
  • 67% in the last year
  • 82% in the last 2 years
  • Only one in five (18%) of those who use infrared sauna have been using them more than 2 years

The report follows the release of the brand’s Global Red Light Therapy Trend Report last year (January 2025), which has evolved into a more expansive look at the wellness technology category overall.

Global wellness trends

Key global findings that emerged from the report include:

  • Younger generations are driving the adoption of wellness technology.
  • For those who do use wellness technology, it's a recent addition to their routines.
  • Men are leading the global usage of wellness technology.
  • We're experiencing a rise in aesthetic motivations for red light therapy usage.

"People are becoming much more invested in their overall wellness, and as a result they’re seeking out accessible tools that offer them multiple benefits, whether that’s for their skin, hair, sleep, mood, muscle recovery or their gum health," says Andy Mant, co-founder and CEO of BON CHARGE.

The rapid adoption rates of technologies such as red light, PEMF, infrared sauna, EMF-blocking and blue light-blocking technology, particularly amongst younger adults, in just the past year, reflect the current global movement towards proactive wellness.

BON CHARGE's mission is to make cutting-edge wellness technology effortless and accessible in everyday life, and as this study has already shown where consumer priorities are at, it's a mission that will serve the broader health and aesthetic movements well.
