Mapply syrup

Japanese confectionery company Morinaga has partnered with the Yunessun Resort in Hakone, Japan to facilitate a special “hot cake bath.”

To achieve the scent of maple and vanilla, bath workers will pour bottles of maple syrup into the bath three times during the day. This bath will be part of their family-friendly “swimsuit area” and will run through April 25.

Yunessun Spa resort has been no stranger to odd bath treatments. In the past, they have had baths filled with wine, coffee and even ramen broth. Additionally, Japan has been a recent hot spot for unique spa destinations. Last fall, it was announced that the mayor of Beppu City has plans to open a "spamusement park."
