UC Irvine Offering Spa and Wellness Certificate

There’s a new option for spa professionals looking back to school (and it doesn’t even require staying in a dorm): The University of California, Irvine’s Division of Continuing Education now offers a Spa and Wellness Management Certificate.

Fully online, the professional development program allows participants to complete the certificate in as few as six months. It is designed for both professionals seeking to brush up on their knowledge  and those wishing to enter the field and features four required courses taught by industry experts.

The program teaches students all aspects of day-to-day spa operation, as well as business strategiest for growth and profitability. Skills taught will include management, operations, finance, human resources, marketing and treatments. The first session was offered summer 2018.

“The relevant, comprehensive spa and wellness curriculum provides a formal education pathway for professionals to develop much needed management and leadership skills,” said Angela Jeantet, director of education and business programs at UCI Division of Continuing Education. “Participants can earn their certificate online in just six months and immediately begin applying what they’ve learned on the job.”

Required courses include:

  • Introduction to Spa and Wellness: Industry and Operations;
  • Spa and Wellness Financial Management;
  • Human Resources Management in Spa and Wellness; and
  • Marketing and Branding for Spa and Wellness Businesses.
