Located on the edge of Rwanda’s Nyungwe rainforest, the One&Only Nyungwe House resort promises plenty of nature and relaxation when it begins welcoming guests Oct. 1, 2018.

The resort’s One&Only Spa will offer organic natural skin care from South Africa’s Africology. Signature treatments will include Intoga Amasatchi, a 75-minute deep-tissue, full-body treatment aimed at stretching tight muscles and reliving toxic overload.

Located on a working tea plantation along one of the continent’s largest preserved rainforests, One&Only Nyungwe House offers 23 guest rooms and suits, each with log burners and expansive private decks.

Activities include trekking chimpanzee and rare monkeys through the rainforest; canopy treetop walks; hiking trails of varying degrees of difficulty; stargazing; jungle boot camp workouts; and introductory lessons on African kitchen gardens or African tea. The resort, which includes a dining room and tea room, will also offer African-inspired, farm-to-table cuisine.

Guests also have the opportunity to participate in Umuganda, a nationwide initiative which sees locals spending the last Saturday morning of each month working in the local community on projects such as developing infrastructure to environmental protection.

The resort marks the second in One&Only Nature Resorts’ portfolio, which also includes Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley in Australia. Next year, the company will expand with the opening of the One&Only Gorilla’s Nest in Northern Rwanda.
