Light Makeup for a Natural Look

Sofia Richie has attracted more attention to the trend with her natural makeup look and quiet luxury wedding. Tutorials and recreations of her makeup routine are especially popular on TikTok, with hashtags like #sofiarichiemakeup (10.5 million views), #sofiarichieweddingmakeup (7.1 million views) and #sofiarichiemakeuproutine (3.6 million views). Richie made her own "get ready with me" (GRWM) video for her wedding look featuring the makeup products she used.

For a quiet luxury makeup look, Boohoo recommends using cream products over powders as it creates a more realistic glow on the skin, and opt for sheer washes of color over heavily pigmented products to give a subtle sheen. The experts also suggest choosing peach and bronze tones on the cheeks for a more toned-down flush of color over rose and pink and choosing a simple eyeshadow with groomed eyebrows and a good mascara for eye makeup.

Glowing Skin Care

Luxury skin care has also been growing in searches this past year, with a 53% increase in Google searches. Boohoo suggests a low-maintenance makeup routine can be combined with an effective skin care routine to create a glowing skin aesthetic. A facial and a good highlighter can create a clean glow that reflects and enhances a healthy skin aesthetic, but with everyone's skin being different, it is about learning what products will work best for them and sticking to a routine.

Neutrals or Monochrome

The hashtag #neutraloutfit has 461.9 million views and #monochromeoutfit has over 209.8 million views on TikTok. Neutrals are an essential wardrobe basic, work well with mixing and matching and are perfect for embodying quiet luxury, according to Boohoo. Sofia Richie wore white, creams and browns in the build-up to her wedding. This color pallet feeds into a capsule wardrobe, purchasing neutral clothes that can be a long-term investment and worn in multiple ways for years.

Texture over Logos

During an episode of HBO's Succession, Tom Wambsgans describes a Burberry bag worth thousands as "ludicrously capacious" and "monstrous" due to its vintage check print, making it recognizable. Avoid big and loud logos, with Boohoo citing Gwyneth Paltrow and her head-to-toe old money look as an example, including the $4,876 The Row coat, luxurious cashmere sweaters and Celine boots she wore to court in March for a lawsuit over a 2016 collision at a posh Utah ski resort, according to the Associated Press. The jury found that Paltrow was not to blame for the incident.

Quiet luxury is more about elevated clean basics than expensive clothes, according to Boohoo. They suggest focusing on a more simple, versatile aesthetic to wear in various environments and outfits, and choosing texture over logos, with materials like cotton, leather, cashmere, merino wool and silk bringing an expensive feel to the clothing.
