Video marketing simply uses videos to market or promote your brand online through all media channels. There are several things you can accomplish with video marketing, including:
- Providing education
- Proving entertainment
- Visually showcasing your vibe and personality to build relationships

Video holds attention! Did you know on average most people watch about 2.7 minutes of an online video—and a whopping 59% of senior executives would rather watch a video than read text? Think about the wild success of YouTube in recent years—that says a lot about how the world feels about videos.
Be Like Gary Vee
Speaking of YouTube, Gary Vee is one of the leading video marketers with his own YouTube channel with millions of subscribers (and climbing). While obtaining that many followers doesn’t happen overnight, there’s a lot we can learn from him. He uses stories that include three basic steps:
- He creates a story by introducing a problem. His videos then focus on the story, not the sale.
- He educates viewers with content and proves his industry knowledge as a thought leader.
- He adds value by solving a problem for the viewer.

Pro Tips
- Be sure to get to the point of your story and your purpose with five to ten seconds (any longer than that and you risk losing your viewers’ attention).
- Ask viewers for feedback on your content.
- Ask viewers for engagement with likes, comments and shares.
