For Armenthia Carr, being in the beauty industry has been the best thing ever. Being an esthetician has been the most rewarding and fulfilling journey ever. She began as a makeup artist at a makeup counter at Macy’s and has evolved into an advocate for skin of color. She educates her clients and shares her insights, knowledge and expertise on social media, where she has gained quite the following.
Carr was recently recognized as the Associated Skin Care Professionals’ Esthetician of the Year. She said when she received the email congratulating her, she was shocked.
"We are so thrilled to have Armenthia Carr represent Associated Skin Care Professionals as the 2026 ASCP Esty of the Year. She’s an incredible educator and esthetician, and her story has already inspired so many ASCP members. We know Armenthia has a bright future ahead of her in esthetics, and we can’t wait to watch her and her business thrive," said ASCP Skin Deep Editor Jen Anderson.
Carr, who is set to open her spa, UR Skin Therapist this month in Little Rock, Ark., likes being able to work on people’s skin. She also uses her knowledge as an instructor to educate her students and clients about things going on in the beauty industry. She said educates people at basic level in a way that everyone can understand, because she knows people learn concepts differently.
Carr has been using social media, with the handle @urskintherapist on Instagram and @ur.skin.therapist on TikTok to educate and spread awareness about skin of color. She fills the gap that exist surrounding conversations about skin of color and how estheticians can effectively treat the skin with products and devices. Carr also served as a contributing author in the Milady 13th edition textbook for three chapters on skin of color.
Carr is set to open her spa, UR Skin Therapist in Little Rock, Ark., this month.
