NPD Reports Women of All Races Use Some Type of Sun Product

Four in 10 white and Hispanic women use sunscreen with SPF 30+. And, although African-American women are the least likely users of sunscreen, almost half of black women in the United States (45%) use sunscreen, and the majority of these women use SPF 30+.

"The fact that SPF sunscreens are being used by two out of three women in the United States is huge," says Karen Grant, global industry analyst and vice president of beauty for NPD. "In fact, after moisturizing, sun protection is the most important benefit women look for in their facial skin care. Given its importance in the minds of consumers, this benefit is one marketers need to remember and continue highlighting in their product information along with all the new ingredients and formulas."
