For the last few years, people have become obsessed with having glass skin; skin that is clear, radiant, texture free and looks like glass. Candela developed a Glacē Facial machine that touts the same results as following a five-step K-beauty-inspired skincare routine.

The Glacē facial treatment that integrates microdermabrasion and hydro-infusion to cleanse, exfoliate, infuse and revitalize the skin, with the goal of giving the client glass skin. The treatment has no downtime and clients see visible results after the first treatment.

Dr. Dendy Engelman, MD, FAAD, a Board-certified Dermatologist known for her expertise in surgical and cosmetic dermatology, describes the Glacē facial as the next generation of medical facials. She says that it allows for superficial to deep manipulation of the skin in order to enhance skin barriers, skin health and skin radiance.

CUSTOMIZATION

The Glacē facial is customizable, based on the client’s skincare objectives and their needs. For a younger client who might be suffering from oily or acneic skin, there is a protocol with the serums that can be used to help with that issue. For clients who are 40-plus, the protocol might include hydration to help with radiance, helping fine lines and wrinkles, and decreasing dullness.

The Glacē Facial uses six different serums, one for pore refining, one for vitamin shield, one for sensitivity relief, one for hyperpigmentation, one for more aging skin and one for restoring a healthy glow.

MODALITIES

The Glacē facial has three modalities: hydrodermabrasion, cupping massage and LED light therapy. The hydrodermabrasion which helps to externally remove dead keratinocytes on the surface of the skin. The mechanical lymphatic treatment helps increase the lymphatic flow and decongests the skin. Engelman says that the lymphatic treatment is her favorite part.

“It just really feels nice and those channels are really delicate, so they can get congested fairly easily. It’s nice to make sure that we’re doing something that enhances lymphatic flow,” she says.

The LED component helps with inflammation and inflammaing, where chronic inflammation causes glycosylation of skin proteins and causes sallowness, yellowing and accelerates the signs of aging.

NO DOWNTIME

Engelman says that with in the studies, 89% of participants said their skin was more hydrated after one treatment, and 92% say they would come for another treatment.

Engelman says that unlike other facials where clients might experience redness and have downtown after a treatment, there is no downtime with a Glacē facial. She says that clients can put makeup on and go back to work after the treatment.

“It’s both effective, but also wildly manageable and well tolerated. People don’t have to bake in a day or two of recovery just in case,” she says.

RESULTS

Engelman says that while 89% of participants saw smoother, more radiant skin after one treatment, it is best to keep it getting the treatment every one or two months in order to make it part of a self care routine and see optimal results. Post treatment care includes the client wearing a broad spectrum SPF of 30 or higher immediately after and everyday. Clients should also apply a gentle moisturizer to support hydration and maintain their results, and avoid exfoliants, scrubs, harsh irritants, and waxing for five to seven days post-treatment. Additional post-care protocols may be recommended when Glacē is paired with complementary treatments, such as LED therapy, but for this next-level treatment, the primary focus is protecting the skin barrier through SPF.

EDUCATION

Education is central to how Candela brings Glace to estheticians and providers. Once a practice gets access to Glacē, the team goes through a structured onboarding process that starts with digital training modules covering the science and technique behind the treatment. After the onboarding process and digital training modules, providers and estheticians work through online milestones where they build proficiency at their own pace while ensuring consistency in protocol.

Candela also hosts live webinars led by clinical trainers, where estheticians can ask questions in real time and learn additional treatment techniques beyond the foundational training. The brand's team includes 24 clinical trainers nationwide, with even more globally, keeping providers abreast of the latest trends and clinical studies as the field evolves.

Candela has also developed a protocol handbook specifically focused on how to pair Glacē with various energy-based devices, so providers have a clear reference for combining modalities safely and effectively. The approach includes structured training, hands-on milestones, live expert access, and a detailed protocol resource. The goal is to ensure that every provider delivers the Glacē facial with the same level of skill and care.
