5 Treatments For A Better Barrier

This month for our Protocols in Practice section we are focusing on rebuilding the skin barrier. We have gathered five brands that shared their barrier repair protocols for us to feature in our digital magazine.

Bio-Balancing Facial Protocol

Circadia

The bio-hacking facial will restore, balance, and protect skin from the daily compromise of time and environmental damages. This facial is packed with antioxidant, brightening, and refining properties reverse and defend against free radical damage. It also helps support a healthy microbiome and circadian rhythm balance, strengthening immune and barrierfunction, and improving hydration.

Step 1 Pre-Cleanse (Optional). Apply ½ pump Vitamin Veil Cleanser. Cleanse in circular motions and remove thoroughly.

Step 2 Cleanse. Combine 1 pump Lipid Replacing Cleansing Gel with a little water to create foam and apply to the face and cleanse in circular motions. Remove thoroughly. Pat skin dry.

Step 3 Exfoliate. Combine 1 pump Amandola Milk Cleanser with 1 tsp. Australian Super-Berry Antioxidant Mask. Mix well. Apply with a fan brush to face & neck. Using gentle circular motions, massage onto the skin for 2-3 minutes. Apply damp 4X4 compress over entire face followed by either steam or hot towel for 5-7 min. Thoroughly remove all product with warm towel or 4X4 gauze. Pat skin dry.

Step 4. Infuse. Spray 4-5 mists of Aloe and Calendula Calming Mist on the skin, followed by light tapotement.

Step 5 Nourish/Massage. Apply 1-2 pumps Hydralox to 1 pump of AquaPorin Hydrating Cream and massage for 5-10 mins, remove excess products with warm towel.

Step 6 Balance Biome. Dispense 1 tsp. of Pre & Post Biotic Nourishing Mask with Royal Tea into a portion cup. Apply evenly to the face and neck with a fan brush. Cover with damp 4x4 and a hot towel. Let this sit on the skin for 7-10 minutes.

Step 7. Eye care. Gently stipple ½ pump of Emergency Eye Lift to eye area.

Step 8 Hydrate/Protect. Apply 1 pump of Vitamin C Reversal Serum to the face, neck and décolleté. Cocktail a small amount of Post Peel Balm and 1/2 pump of Light Day Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF-37 or Circa-Shield and apply to face, neck, and décolleté.

Microbiome Restorative Facial

The Microbiome Restorative Facial helps to renew and restore the skin’s natural barrier. Powered by plant-derived retinol, organic probiotics, and antioxidants, this facial provides calming, nourishing, brightening, and glowing benefits to all skin types, especially breakout-prone and sensitive skin.

Step 1 Opening. Cover the client’s eyes with dampened cotton rounds or pre-saturated cotton rounds with Kombucha Cleansing for eye make up removal. Apply a small amount of Raw Facial Oil to the hands (about nickel-size amount). Massage the decollete, neck and upper shoulders with Raw Facial Oil up to two minutes.

Step 2 Cleanse. Cleanse eyes and lips (if applicable): Apply a small amount of Kombucha Cleanser to your fingers. Cleanse both eyes by rolling your finger down the eyelashes and gently making circles on the lids, cleanse lips, and emulsify with water. Remove clean with esthetic wipes or cotton rounds. Apply Kombucha Cleanser on dampened skin. Perform cleansing techniques. Add water and cleanse the skin. Remove with a warm towel You may double-cleanse the skin. Remove with sponges, steam towel, or esthetic wipes. Finish cleansing by applying Spirulina Toner with an esthetic wipe and gentle pressure on the face, neck, and décolleté.

Step 3 exfoliation. Apply Mandelic Acid Peel (2.0 ml) to the skin. Leave on for 3 minutes or less depending on the appearance of your client’s skin, and remove with cool water and esthetic wipes or a cool dampened face towel

Step 4 Extractions. Apply 20-30 drops of Fast Extract Step 1 (2.0 ml) and gently massage into the skin. Do not remove. Apply Face Extract Step 2 (2.5 ml) in a mask-like layer onto the face and steam the skin for 7-10 minutes. Perform extractions. Gently wipe Spirulina Toner (2.0 ml) over the skin with a cotton round or esthetic wipe. While skin is steaming, massage the neck/shoulders.

Step 5 Mask. Apply Earth Mask to face, neck, and décolleté. Leave on for 15 minutes and remove with dampened esthetic wipes or warm steamed towel. Perform hand/arm massage while the mask is on the skin.

Step 6 Serum. Apply Multi-vitamin + Retinol Serum to the face, neck, and décolleté.

Step 7 Moisturize. Apply Eyelight Cream (0.5 ml) to the orbital eye region. Apply In Lips We Trust lip balm (0.25 ml) to the lips.

Step 8 Closing. Apply Raw Facial Oil (3.0 ml) to the face, neck, and décolleté. Gently massage the oil into the skin for 8-10 mins. Gua sha massage tool can be used.
