New analysis of Google searches has revealed the most popular skin care ingredients globally, with coconut oil taking the top spot. The research, conducted by Tajmeeli, gathered information on how often more than 200 skin care ingredients are searched online to generate which ingredients were the top choice.
Every month, there are 43,000 monthly searches for coconut oil, totaling 516,000 searches globally over the course of a year. Every month, there were 11,000 searches for "is coconut oil good for your skin?" and 9,100 people also looked up "benefits of coconut oil on skin." This suggests that although the ingredient is growing in popularity, there is also misconceptions for its skin care applications.

Vitamin E took the second spot with 31,000 global monthly searches, and 372,000 searches for the year. In third place, with 24,000 global monthly searches, is lactic acid, totaling 384,000 inquiries over a 12-month period.
The research also examined the most popular product searches for the ingredients analyzed, showing how consumers like to incorporate each into their skin care routines. Calamine lotion was the most popular with 318,000 monthly searches, followed by vitamin C serum (310,000) and hydrocortisone cream (306,000).
