Award-winning nutritionist and international bestselling author Alison Bladh announced the launch of a new wellbeing treatment, the Meno Massage Method, this month. Developing this method into an accreditation for beauty and wellness salons to deliver, this method was designed to be used globally to help menopausal women feel better.

As conversations surrounding menopause become less stigmatized, those undergoing menopause are given more space to talk honestly about the ways this transition affects them. For skin, this includes things like the loss of collagen and sagging, and for wellness overall, this means menopausal individuals may struggle with symptoms like hot flashes and insomnia.

Bladh, a CIDESCO-qualified aesthetician and long-time global beauty educator, previewed the Meno Massage Method at Cosmoprof Bologna and has been trialing it with beauty therapy students for the last six months. Now, the comprehensive training program is being offered to beauty salons and spas, allowing staff to become certified Meno Massage practitioners.

Drawing on over 30 years of clinical experience in women's skin health, Bladh, who also authored Have a Magnificent Menopause, has created a unique approach that blends specialised massage movements, nervous system support, breathwork, reflex-inspired touch, nutrition and lifestyle medicine to address the specific needs of women aged 40 and over.

"After spending more than 30 years working with women 40 plus, I kept seeing the same story unfold," says Bladh, also the clinical supervisor in nutrition at the University of West London. "So many were struggling with fatigue, anxiety, poor sleep, stubborn weight gain and changes in their skin. They needed more than a traditional spa treatment — they needed something that recognised what was actually happening inside their bodies during perimenopause and menopause. This is why I created the Meno Massage Method."

Bladh's experience as a registered nutrition therapist, as well as her years in beauty and her CIDESCO qualification allow her to work holistically.

The Meno Massage Method is built on three key pillars: Mind and Body Reset through specialized massage treatments (including 90-minute and 60-minute full body sessions, plus targeted 30-minute treatments for back/neck/shoulders, abdomen and face/décolletage); Nutritional Support offering expert guidance on menopause-specific nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine strategies designed to relieve menopausal symptoms and support overall wellbeing.

Bladh adds: “What sets this training apart is its comprehensive approach. Beauty therapists learn not just massage techniques, but gain a deep understanding of hormonal changes and how shifts in oestrogen, progesterone and cortisol affect energy, skin, mood and overall wellbeing. Each certified therapist receives ready-to-use client materials, including Lifestyle Wellness Cards and 10 complimentary copies of my book to gift to their first clients after their treatment.”

Clients report improved sleep, reduced tension, better mood balance and a welcome sense of being understood and supported during a challenging life transition. Therapists who have begun offering the method in their clinics share that their clients keep returning for this treatment, saying it helps ease tension, improve sleep and reduce the ‘wired and tired’ feeling so many women experience in menopause.

Bladh's work has been featured in leading publications, including OK! Magazine, The Telegraph, Woman's Own, Marie Claire, Saga and Stylist. She also regularly speaks at conferences and industry events on women's health and menopause care.
