Chemical peels are well-established in the industry to be effective in managing a variety of skin conditions. They improve skin tone and texture and can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It begs the question though, are peels effective, or even safe to use on acne and acne-prone skin?

The short answer: yes.

It’s not so simple as giving an acne-prone client a peel and then letting them split. For example, sun protection post-peel is essential, as your client’s skin will be more sensitive in the immediate aftermath of a peel. In the first few days following a peel, clients should wear sunscreen with at least an SPF of 30 (yes, even if it’s cloudy!)

That’s still not the half of it though. Rhonda Allison’s upcoming webcast delineates the nuanced relationship between acne and peels, so you can learn all you need to know, and peel in peace.
