The Pantone Color Institute has chosen its Color of the Year for 2025: Mocha Mousse.
The Pantone Color of the Year program highlights the relationship between color and culture. Each year, Pantone selects a color that captures a global mood and an attitude, reflecting collective desire in the form of a single, distinct hue. For 2025, PANTONE 17-1230 was chosen to capture a need for comfort.
"For Pantone Color of the Year 2025, we look to a mellow brown hue whose inherent richness and sensorial and comforting warmth extends further into our desire for comfort, and the indulgence of simple pleasures that we can gift and share with others," shares Laurie Pressman, the Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute.
When you think of Mocha Mousse, you likely think of coffee and chocolate — two rich, delectable treats that are go-to staples for many when they are in need of a sweet treat or a morning pick-me-up. The shade is all about indulgence, comfort and contentment.
So, what does this mean for the spa and the professional skin care industry? Color trends can undoubtedly affect makeup trends in the coming year, and we are likely to see more mocha and earthy infused makeup looks in 2025. In addition, the trend for rich browns may spill over to spa design and influence color palette choices in spa spaces.
