Our blood system is comprised of white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets that move through plasma, a liquid made up of protein and water that allows these components to move. Throughout our entire blood system, our blood cells carry infinitesimal amounts of highly potent healing factors, healing co-factors, growth factors, immune system proteins and maintenance proteins. It was only a matter of time before scientists discovered how to optimize blood as a tool to heal and improve other parts of the body. Enter platelet rich plasma (PRP) and platelet rich fibrin (PRF), two purified forms of blood that have made their way into esthetics in a big way.
