The National Psoriasis Foundation (NPF) has introduced Our Spot, a program—including a website and welcome kit with information—providing adolescents resources to help support their needs with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.

The goal of the program is to improve health results and quality of life for those living with the emotional and physical aspects of psoriatic disease. According to a news release, providing examples of how to better understand the diagnosis and bring awareness to those affected can help provide a positive outlook in managing the disease.

The website provides tips and educational materials for youth and adults in addressing various topics, such as speaking with other family members and dealing with bullies and relationships. Addtionally, NPF’s One to One program allows parents and child care providers to connect with other parents or guardians who are raising children with psoriatic disease.

“Our Spot was developed specifically to address the unique needs of youth living with psoriatic disease,” said Jaime Lyn Moy, National Psoriasis Foundation youth services committee chair. “Psoriatic disease can be overwhelming and isolating. We want to provide youth and their families a supportive environment where they can connect with others who know exactly what they are experiencing and learn ways to successfully manage their disease.”
