AmSpa Medical Spa Summit
New this year, The American Med Spa Association is hosting an entire day of medical spa training and education on Saturday, Jan. 21. The day-long training is an overview of medical spa success for current medical spa professionals or those considering entering the space. The content will answer these questions and more:
- What do you need to consider before even starting on the path to opening a medical spa?
- If you already own or are involved in a medical spa, how do you make more money, operate safely and compliantly, and grow successfully?
- How do you need to set up your corporate structure?
- What common legal mistakes do you need to avoid?
- How do you need to approach your business planning?
- How do marketing, retail and other spa staples change in the medical spa world?
- Does HIPAA and OSHA compliance come into play for a medical spa?

Medical Spa Track
New to the Advanced Education Conference Program, a track has been dedicated to educating estheticians on medical spa treaments to be held on Jan. 21. Classes include:
- Tapping into the Billion Dollar Laser Tattoo Removal Market: Loretta Zanetti, Erasable Inc., will help you to understand the difference between competing technologies and what type of lasers will produce desired results. She will discuss treatment results, real patient case studies and review limitations and risks of laser tattoo removal.
- The 411 on Microneedling: Terri Wojak, education director at Tru U Education, will educate on what microneedling is and the difference between cosmetic, medical and surgical treatments. She will also share the history and science behind needling, which will allow professionals to describe the benefits in a way that clients can understand while providing realistic expectations.
- Injectables in an Esthetics Practice: Lisa Jenks, M.D., Genesis MedSpa & Genesis Consulting, will share the basics about what these neurotoxins and fillers are and the effects they have on skin. You’ll learn who can provide these treatments, and how they can enhance current skin care offerings.
- Stem Cells: Myth or Medical Breakthrough: Danne King, founder of DMK, will explain how to utilize our own skin stem cells to regenerate skin tissue at every level including Keratinocytes and Langerhans Cells.
- A Deeper Look at Advanced Chemical Peeling: Holly Amson, national educator at PCA Skin, will provide an overview focusing on the most efficacious approaches to treatment. Details of clinically proven acids, including trichloroacetic acid (TCA), Jessner’s solutions, alpha hydroxy acids, salicylic acid and retinoids, will be addressed.
