Have you heard the news? Skin Inc.’s publishing company, Allured Business Media, has acquired publishing house Creative Age, the creators of professional trade publications DAYSPA, NAILPRO, Beauty Launchpad and MedEsthetics, along with associated sub-brands. This is exciting news for us, particularly for me, because we now touch every segment of the professional beauty industry!

You may have heard this news and wondered what would become of DAYSPA, since both of us have covered similar content in decades past. Trust me when I say, this has been a question on our mind for quite some time now, but the solution is going to pave the way for an exciting future.You may have heard this news and wondered what would become of DAYSPA, since both of us have covered similar content in decades past. Trust me when I say, this has been a question on our mind for quite some time now, but the solution is going to pave the way for an exciting future.

When we looked at the trajectory of the spa market since Skin Inc. was founded in 1988, two segments emerged—medical spa and wellness. We have tried to serve those markets over the years, but the fact remained that they simply were not our area of expertise. We are about skin and the successful operation of a day spa, and that will never change. So, we have these new brands and with them an amazing opportunity to cater to the medical spa and wellness markets in a meaningful way.

MedEsthetics, of course, will be the publication focused on all things medical spa and medical esthetics, but DAYSPA’s focus will shift from one somewhat aligned with Skin Inc. to being the whole health resource for wellness spa professionals.

What does that mean for Skin Inc.? Well, it means this is the last issue you will get from us where wellness is a main focus, because we’ve got a new woman for the job. In addition, expect to see our MedSpa Matters section, MedSpa Weekly E-newsletter and Being Well section migrate to a new home.Exciting things are in store, and until then, fare-wellness.
