The Skin Benefits of Glycerin

glycerin-850x425

Glycerin comes from plant sources. It is colorless and odorless. It is a humectant, which means it attracts water to itself. It absorbs water and keeps moisture in the skin. Glycerin makes dull skin glow and gleam.

Glycerin hydrates the outer layer of the skin, protects the skin against skin irritants, improves skin barrier function and skin mechanical properties and accelerates wound-healing processes. 1

Glycerin can be used on all skin types. It works especially well on dry and sensitive skin types. Glycerin also works well on oily skin.2

Dr. Saleki, skin doctor and founder of sas Aesthetics, notes that glycerin is particularly good for oily skin. "Glycerin draws water from the air into your skin to moisturize it without making it greasy," she says. "This is actually why glycerin is present in a lot of oil-free moisturizers."

Add products with glycerin to your spa shelves and treatments to have your clients’ skin moisturized and smooth.
