What You Should Know
As the beauty industry heads towards a more simplistic and natural direction, we are finding that many beauty consumers are interested in minimalistic skin care routines; enter skin streaming. This trend that has been gaining traction from social media platforms like TikTok, simplifies daily skin care products for clean and effective results. By definition, skin streaming involves using three to four products that effectively address skin care needs. This can include a cleanser, multi-purpose serum, moisturizer and sunscreen.1 This method makes retail product recommendations for the esthetician and homecare between treatments for the client simple.

Benefits
There are many skin benefits of the skin streaming trend, with the biggest being a strengthened skin barrier. Because the skin is not being treated with many skin care products, there is less of a chance for ingredient interactions to cause irritation. This also means that the three or four products being used have more of a chance for deep product penetration. As estheticians, we know that recommending a 10-step skin care routine can be overwhelming for clients who are new to using home care products. Skin streaming not only effectively treats the skin, but creates a simple routine that your client is more likely to complete in-between services; a win-win for both sides.
Tips
- Recommend skin streaming skin care routines for your clients with sensitive skin.
- Recommend multi-beneficial skin care products like dual serums that include peptides or antioxidants, or moisturizers that provide sun protection.
- Set up a skin streaming product package that contains all the products your client would need in their routine for an easy retail sale.
