Ready Set Jet became the first beauty brand certified and approved for space travel—and not a moment too soon, as their skin care batons were scheduled to go into orbit aboard the Axiom4 Space Mission on June 9. This one step for these skin care batons is a giant leap for beauty R&D, seeing how space travel is becoming less of an experience exclusive to astronauts and science fiction.

Still, it’s no easy feat to get to space—for people or personal care products. Similar to astronauts, Ready Set Jet’s products had to undergo rigorous testing to receive their bona fide space seal of approval. Ready Set Jet’s formulas endured aerospace-grade testing for radiation exposure, chemical stability, zero gravity and vibration resistance to get their AstroCertified status. More than just a mark of peak performance, this certification means that Ready Set Jet’s products are scientifically validated for being safe to use in extreme conditions.

Some products to keep an eye out for in case you need to take a quick trip to infinity and beyond are Ready Set Jet’s HydroLock Marine Matrix, which can lock in moisture and hydration, for dry, pressurized environments, like the inside of a space craft for instance. The brand’s Color + Care Complex combines ceramides and pigment for a multifunctional solution space baddies can use while multitasking.

What’s next? Will we see #SpaceBeauty trending on Tiktok in five years? Will estheticians have the opportunity to undergo their own aerospace training and have it count towards their continued education hours? Will space facials (spacials?) be on menus all over the galaxy? It’s hard to tell exactly how the industry will be shaped by a milestone of this magnitude, but I feel confident about one thing—there’s nowhere to go but up.
