Downtown Arlington Heights, Illinois has a new Himalayan salt therapy spa called The Salt Escape.

The Salt Escape, a recently opened Himalayan salt therapy spa in downtown Arlington Heights, Illinois, is Tim Bradley’s second salt spa after opening a location in Batavia in 2016, according to an article on Patch.

Bradley is a retired captain at the Aurora Fire Department and says a session at The Salt Room, 70 S. Arlington Heights Road, is the beach in the winter and guests’ time to let their minds go.

Upon visiting The Salt Room, customers sit in lounge chairs in the salt therapy room where they breathe in Himalayan salt particles meant to help clear them on pollens, viruses, toxins and other pollutants from the body.

Salt helps cells consolidate inflammation and mucus, so the body can get rid of it and people with asthma, bronchitis, allergies, cystic fibrosis, psoriasis and general skin inflammation show major improvement after treatments, according to The Salt Room’s website.

There is also some evidence that suggests salt therapy can improve the body’s immune, cardiovascular and endocrine systems.

A 50-minute session for an adult costs $30 and children under the age of 12 can accompany a paying adult for $15. The Salt Escape is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
