Fourteen years ago this month, a much younger me nervously accepted the position of associate editor working for an industry that I knew very little about--the professional skin care industry. I soon was enveloped in its energy, fascinated with the drive and creativity of the people who powered it. Its fast-paced growth was exciting, and before I knew it, years had passed in the blink of an eye.
And thus here I sit today, celebrating the 20th anniversary of this award-winning magazine that its founders had the foresight to launch before skin care became the business it is today. I had the privilege of working under Jean Allured, the magazine’s founding publisher, as well as Marian Raney, who took over the reins when Jean decided to move on and pursue other interests. Thanks to both of these extremely talented women, I learned so much. Nearly four years ago Marian moved on within the company to head up its newly formed books department, and passed the torch to Annette Delagrange, who continues to lead the magazine to new heights.
To help celebrate Skin Inc. magazine’s platinum milestone, we are holding a very special Networking Cocktail Reception during Face & Body to honor the magazine’s success. We also will honor the success of the industry by presenting the Best of the Best award winners during this reception. Unfortunately, Jean is not able to attend, but shared some of her fond memories of the magazine, and I would like to conclude this month’s Reflections column by sharing with you. See the sidebar Jean's Fond Memories.
Until Next Time,
