Houstonians looking to book a spa day now have two luxe new options: The Spa at the Post Oak Hotel and Bergamos Spa Retreat in Friendswood.
Located in the Tilman Fertitta’s Post Oak Hotel—which earned AAA’s five-diamond rating just six months after opening in March 2018—the $10 million, 20,000 square-foot spa is located on the fifth floor, reports the Houston Chronicle. Featuring marble and granite accents, it includes seven treatment rooms; tranquility pool with body-contouring; hot-stoned daybeds; aromatic steam rooms; low-humidity saunas; and multi-sensory thermal showers, among other attributes.
Along with these services offered is a $1,000, two hour facial involving microdermabrasion, oxygen, LED lighting, radio frequency, electroporation and air massage.
“We feel like our hotel is a worldly hotel, and all you have to do is look at our VIP guest list,” Fertitta told the publication. “People are staying here from all over the world. We’ve already had three heads of states stay here from different parts of the world. So we wanted our spa menu to be no different than a great restaurant, no different than a great room.”
A $6.5 million project, the Bergamos Spa Retreat claims to be the largest freestanding day spa in Texas. Owned by Marylyn Reed (great-granddaughter of cosmetics icon Mary Kay Ash), the spa includes a Himalayan salt cave, yoga room, 21 treatment rooms, blow-dry bar, nail and makeup salon, spray tan and waxing area, wine bar and spa café.
Founded in 2001, the spa has undergone a complete renovation—including the addition of a second story which more than tripled the size of the facility, to 22,000 square feet. Ash passed around the time the spa first opened.
Of her grandmother, Reed told the publication: “She couldn’t speak because she had a stroke, so she wrote on paper that she was very proud of me.”
