A new non-profit in Rogers County, Okla., is bringing pro-bono relief to cancer patients through oncology massage therapy, reports the Claremore Daily Progress.

“The Stonebrook Project” is the brainchild of Edie Tolbert, owner of Stonebrook Day Spa, which offers oncology massage therapy among other services.

“I’ve been offering oncology massage and services free to cancer patients for several years now,” Tolbert told the publication. “But with ‘The Stonebrook Project’, I hope to continue to be able to do so because, unfortunately, the need for this is great, and growing.” Previously, the spa itself has covered the cost.

Tolbert, a breast cancer survivor, was inspired to offer the service after her own diagnosis six years ago; she is currently planning a May 2018 fundraiser to coincide with her 10th anniversary of being cancer-free.

“Cancer doesn’t discriminate — male, female, adults, and even children,” said Tolbert. “Our youngest client was eight years old at the time, and our oldest client is in her 70s. We see some people once a month, some every two weeks, some every other week, depending on their unique and individual needs.”
