To help prevent the worsening of dark spots, clients should be wearing sunscreen everyday. Exposure to sunlight can make dark spots even darker. 

2. Lightening Products

These products and ingredients can help to lighten dark spots and it includes:

  • Hydroquinone

  • mequinol

  • retinoids

  • azelaic acid

  • kojic acid

  • niacinamide

  • vitamin C

3. Spa Treatments

It's important to know how to help clients with darker skin with their pigmentation. 

  • Chemical peels such as glycolic acid and salicylic acid work by gradually removing cells in the epidermis that contain excess melanin. 

  • Laser treatments works to destroy cells that contain pigment, lightening the skin.
