Just because it's dull outside, doesn't mean our skin has to match! The change in weather means clients are going to be looking for ways to keep their skin soft, smooth and radiant.

Here's what you should be cozying up to this fall.

1. Ingredients brought to you by biotech

Lab-grown ingredients are the market's answer to pure, sustainable and stable ingredients, particularly when it comes to the ingredients and products consumers are clamoring for. The ever-coveted well-aging solution, retinol, has achieved feats in plant-based alternatives thanks to biotechnological innovation. We also have ways of sourcing essential skingredients like vitamin C through microbial fermentation.

Biotechnology opens up a whole new world of ethical sourcing at a time where sustainability and transparency standards have never been higher.

2. Reliable skin staples that do more, with less

You've heard me crow about skinimalism enough by now to realize that it's here to stay for the time being. Your consumers don't want overly complicated 12-step skin care routines. They want a good cleanser, moisturizer and maybe a serum to ease the burden of having healthy, beautiful skin, as well as the strain on their wallets.

Retailing products you trust, and for all skin types, can help you make more reliable recommendations, while ensuring your client isn't getting duped by social media hype or snazzy marketing. Client education is also a crucial part of this, as you can cut out some of the chatter regarding over-written and high-maintenance routines.

3. Effective well-aging solutions

Longevity (or the artist formerly known as "well-aging", who's formerly known as "anti-aging") solutions have always been a draw, but now, with the flood of products in the market, heightened consumer awareness about skin care and the mass shift towards proactive solutions to wellness and beauty, products are being held under more intense scrutiny.

Using products you trust and building on that trust and credibility through unedited before-and-after photos and ingredient education will be paramount in guiding your clients through their journey across the different eras of skin they'll have throughout life.

Lira Clinical's Pumpkin Plus + Exo Retinoid Kit is a valuable addition to anyone's backbar, being a powerful corrective therapy designed to refine, brighten and restore fatigued skin.

4. Healthy, glowy skin

Okay, okay, so maybe this is cheating. It's not like dull, problematic skin will ever be the standard, but in the fall, when cold weather and indoor heating can feel like they're out to get us (I mean, honestly, why does it feel like it's always blowing directly at me?), prioritizing these will drive much of the skin-thusiast's behaviors.

Exfoliation and intense hydration are in vogue, as are warm-hued, natural-looking skin tints that won't weigh skin down, while still giving consumers that warm "just cozied up to a cup of hot cocoa" glow.

5.  Leveraging technology for personalized solutions

AI!

...Did I scare you? Hopefully not, as this is another area that's only going to keep growing, especially where skin care is concerned. AI takes a lot of the grunt work out of making personalized recommendations for common skin issues. If you'd rather keep that personal touch in hand, though, AI can also be valuable for bookings, managing inventory and keeping track of a client's history with your business.
