After teaching skin care at Florida Career College for several years and becoming disheartened by stories of her students unable to find fulfilling employment, Jeannette Sosa was determined to make a difference. In August 2013, she opening Berry Natural Skin Care & Spa with her daughters Katherine, who takes care marketing and administrative duties, and Stephanie, who assists with marketing, management and reception. All of Berry Natural’s estheticians are Jeannette’s former students.
What inspires you?
JS: “After seeing what great changes can come from treatments and a home regimen, I feel inspired to help anyone who walks through the door.”
KS: “I am most inspired by the strong women that make up our Berry Natural team. Together we have the will to succeed in this industry, and we have each other to lean on while we build up our small business.”
SS: “I’m inspired by my mother’s dedication and passion for this industry.”
Staying current
KS & SS: “We stay current by learning and reading about other spas, esthetician bloggers and skin care enthusiasts ... We found the best way to stay current is to stay connected.”
Favorite product line
JS, KS & SS: “Image Skincare is our favorite product line because we see great results, and it has no parabens and no sulfates, as well as many of the chemicals we avoid. Jeannette also enjoys customizing products.”
Becoming a skin care pro
JS: “Opening my own spa allows me to employ skilled women, but also control the quality of services and ingredients clients receive. It lets me put my teachings into practice.”
Making an impact
JS, KS & SS: “We are a new small business trying to make an impact on our community, not by just improving people’s confidence and well-being through spa treatments, but also by giving back to the community we’ve called home for 27 years.”
