Top Tips & Techniques for Caring for the Eyes
We have gathered expert advice from industry professionals on eye care, and we are bringing these tips to you.

This month we asked industry pros for their input on eye care recommendations and professional services. We have gathered expert advice from industry professionals on eye care, and we are bringing these tips to you.

1. Choose Products With the Right Ingredients

Less is more, do not over hydrate, do use botanicals with antioxidants that improve circulation and use Ascorbyl Palmitate and natural peptides. The eye area is more delicate and thinner than other skin on the face, so it should be addressed differently. I do not suggest using regular moisturizers on this area because they can contain a high concentration of actives or essential oils that can cause a reaction around the eyes. The most helpful ingredients for the eye area are the ones that improve circulation. These ingredients help to reduce puffiness and nourish the skin by stimulating more blood flow. Ginkgo biloba and green tea extract are my favorite ingredients for the eye area and are powerful antioxidants. Parsley is another ingredient for the eye area because it is a natural vitamin C source and will help brighten hyperpigmentation around the eyes. At night, have your clients use more emollient and rich creams that contain natural peptides and botanical extracts such as chamomile, calendula and roses to improve circulation and soothe the skin. I also think "less is more" when it comes to eye creams for the eye area because the more ingredients you introduce, the more chance you can react.

2. Use Vitamin C to Brighten

While most eye formulas are designed solely for under-eye use, our skin scientists are seeing incredible advancements in total eye area formulas, applied under the eyes and on the upper eyelids. For clients concerned with fine lines, crow’s feet, dehydration, dark circles, puffiness, sagging skin and dark spots, a potent 10% vitamin C eye formula combined with ingredients like algae, peptides, caffeine and cucumber can brighten, hydrate, reduce puff and actually help the skin all around the eyes feel firmer. These new, clinically proven advancements will be a game changer in at home skin care.
