The journey —that's what it is all about for spa franchise Spavia. More specifically, the company was founded in 2005 by Allison and Marty Langenderfer to support a client's journey to wellness by giving them customized treatments in a relaxing environment. The treatments are unique in themselves, with nine facial options, four peels and five boosts that can be customized to a client's individual skin needs. However, their spa interiors draw the energy of nature to surround clientele with a space that ushers in their journey to wellness. We sat down with Dana Benfield, chief marketing officer of Spavia, who gave us the lowdown on each of the brand's four design themes.
Skin Inc. (SI): Tell us about the aesthetic of your spa’s interior and the emotion you are looking to evoke from customers?

SI: What inspired your design components and process?
Our design is inspired by the desire to create a luxury resort spa experience within your local neighborhood, creating an aesthetic that enhances relaxation and well-being. Each design was crafted to reflect different environments that people find calming and restorative. We wanted to offer Spavia owners and guests the ability to choose a space that resonates with their personal preferences. SPAVIA SWAY, our urban-inspired concept, adds a modern twist, offering something for those who prefer a sleek, city-chic aesthetic.
SI: What is the most important thing to remember when designing a successful spa space?
The most important factor in designing a successful spa space is creating an environment that fosters relaxation and aligns with the core wellness principles of the brand. Every element—from lighting and color schemes to furniture and layout—should serve to make the guest feel at ease from the moment they walk in.
