For as long as I've been putting it on, my makeup routine has always felt separate from my skin care routine. The rise of multifunctional solutions, though, has been re-shaping the way I and other consumers have been thinking of our products, what we choose to prioritize when curating, how the combinations of different actives and mediums might change certain preferences and of course, the recalibration of budgets to accommodate fewer, but higher-value products.

Hyaluronic Acid for Hydration

We all know that hyaluronic acid is great for hydration, and when combined in a foundation or other tinted products that sit on the skin, it can mean healthier skin with a seamless finish. Hyaluronic acid prevents makeup from sinking into fine lines, reducing any "cakeyness" or flaking.

Hyaluronic acid's plumping effect also improves the appearance of the surface it's going on, minimizing texture and fine lines for younger looking skin.

Hyaluronic Acid's Synergistic

While not without the obvious benefits of its own, hyaluronic acid also has the merit of playing well with other actives, like peptides, vitamin C and niacinamide. Additionally, hydrated skin provides a better foundation for reaping the benefits of other actives, which can mean overall healthier skin over time.

Hyaluronic acid also tends to be well-accepted by a variety of skin types, including sensitive skin types. Those with oilier skin can also use hyaluronic acid-infused products for extra hydration that won't leave a greasy finish.

YENSA’s Vibrant Silk Hydrating Lipstick has hyaluronic acid and vitamin E for a combination of hydration and antioxidant protection. Lip hydration is essential for preventing unsightly and uncomfortable cracking and chapping, while fortifying lips for the sun, wind and cold.

Incorporating multifunctional makeup into your kit can be a valuable way of distinguishing yourself to clients looking to get glammed up, without breaking the bank.
