Face & Body: 15 Years of Growth

1992 Face & Body debuts as the Face & Body Seminar and Exhibition in Philadelphia, The City of Brotherly Love, at Adam’s Mark Hotel. The show makes its presence known with 11 speakers and 53 exhibiting companies.
1994 Face & Body hits the road and moves to the West Coast for its second run, in San Jose, California, at The Fairmont San Jose. The expo puts a greater emphasis on business, and modifies its name to the Face & Body Business Seminar and Exhibition.
1995 Heading East, Face & Body hits Providence, at the Rhode Island Convention Center.
1996 Back in San Jose, this time at the McEnery Convention Center, the show introduces its Program Resource Guide. The show helps attendees discover the art of doing business, and adds an expansive education program, Demonstration Showcase and Tea Garden to its mix.
1997 The decision is made to make Face & Body an annual event on the West Coast, so it returns to the San Jose McEnery Convention Center. Pre-conference and Evening Workshops are added, and the show’s Web site makes its debut, opening the doors to technology.
1998 The show continues to build momentum in the industry.
1999 The conference and expo welcomes its first sponsored event by the American Association for Esthetic Education (AAEE, formerly AAEA), and the Center Stage featured live demonstrations “in the round.”
2000 Face & Body is on a roll with 31 General Sessions and more than 270 exhibit booths. Partner Conferences include AAEE and the International Guild of Professional Electrologists (IGPE).
2001 To implement the lifestyle change toward wellness, the show revises its name to the Face & Body Spa & Healthy Aging Conference and Exhibition. This year marks the introduction of the show’s education tracks—originally numbered at eight. A keynote speaker and early-morning yoga are new features. In addition, the show moves to the Santa Clara Convention Center.
2002 Back at Santa Clara, the show continues to grow. A Nails Pavilion, sponsored by Nails magazine, was added at the venue, and The Makeup Artist Network sponsored makeup competitions for professionals and students. 
2003 Face & Body makes its big move to San Francisco at The Concourse. The Owner’s Forum makes its debut, as does the Gala Evening Reception and Silent Auction benefiting the Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF). A full day of product-neutral education is added, allowing attendees to focus only on education for one full day.
2004 The Face & Body Proceedings Book, a supplement to the Advanced Education Conference Program, and continuing education units (CEUs) are made available to attendees. Also, the Medical Esthetic Conference, sponsored by PCI Publishing, makes its debut.
2005 The name evolves again to the Face & Body Spa & Healthy Aging Conference and Expo, and the show makes its leap to San Francisco’s Moscone Center. This year signals the beginning of the networking luncheon for Advanced Education.
2006 The Advanced Education Conference Program offers an Attack the Morning Feature Presentation with Frederic Holzberger of Aveda Fredric’s, and the Networking Box Lunch plays host to the first Skin Inc. magazine Best of the Best Awards presentation.

  So what will this year bring for attendees?
      Face & Body 2007 Advanced Education Conference Program includes more of the advanced, hands-on and technical information that you’ve been asking for. Its agenda includes extended track sessions, and an afternoon of live cosmetic procedures being performed so you can have a complete understanding of what each service entails to better treat your clients pre- and post-operatively, and also refer to physicians when appropriate.
       This year’s Owner’s Forum features the theme of Profitability. Created with the input of spa owners—for spa owners—topics to be discussed in panel format include retail management, branding, marketing, sales and service, and training. Bring your questions for this prestigious team of experts, and get ready to make your spa even more profitable!
       The Skin Inc. magazine-sponsored Advanced Education Conference Program also offers intense, diverse and exclusive education for spa professionals, presented by respected industry leaders, successful practitioners and business experts. The Face & Body 2007 Advanced Education Conference Program will kick off on a positive note this year with the inspirational Attack the Morning Networking Breakfast, featuring Richard Willams, spa director of The Peninsula Bangkok.
  Another great opportunity to network \with your peers will be offered at the Skin Inc. magazine Networking Box Lunch, featuring Bryan Durocher, founder of Durocher Enterprises. All conference attendees are invited to come, network and compare notes with colleagues on finding new ways to bridge your spa’s success. The lunch will feature the Second Annual Skin Inc. magazine Best of the Best Awards presentation, as well.
      Also, industry suppliers will sponsor Manufacturer Classrooms and Demonstration Spotlights on both Sunday, August 26, and Monday, August 27. At these sessions, you’ll learn about new treatments, procedures and products.
       We are pleased to also welcome back Your Profitable Business Right Now!, presented by Durocher Enterprises. It also will be held on Sunday, August 26. 
       Back again is the Medical Esthetic Conference, sponsored by PCI Publishing, which includes seven presentations specific to the medical esthetics arena. The event will be held on Monday, August 27.
