Quit Calming Down Rosacea

dmk_si1806_lead

Over the last 4 decades I have written several articles about Rosacea and all the myths and mystery surrounding it.

Based upon certain repeated successes treating the disease I was lucky enough to fall into a situation with one of our top physicians in Kiev, Ukraine, Dr. Andrey Sotnik. Sotnik’s family owned a trauma center hospital and was thus privy to many terrible skin analogies.

The fact was, and is, the remissions in many cases seemed to last a lifetime. In each case, we were aggressively firm with treatments based upon elevating the immune systems of the skin, controlled by the Langerhans Cells, calming things down after the initial “house cleaning” treatments.

I was not sure why this approach was not working 100%, then on a visit to Kiev, Sotnik, then 23, asked me “Danné can you give me a protocol for Demodex?”

I never lie to these bright young physicians, they are smart and well educated and not prone to listen to western snake oil. I rushed home and started looking up any information about Demodex; there was not much information available at the time, except in a very old Dermatology text book with many photos of humans who had contracted Demodex Mites from other people and mostly pets. Almost all of the case studies showed Rosacea-like symptoms. I suddenly knew what we were doing wrong. One part of the treatments involved temporarily raising the pH level of the skin to 12. This intense alkaline base desquamates everything, sends proteins to the skin and in this case, down into the sebaceous glands where these microscopic buggers live, lay eggs and proliferate.

I know there is as many opinions regarding the cause of Rosacea as there are stars in the sky, due to its many aspects—it was only 30 years ago when it bore the incorrect diagnosis “Acne Rosacea”

I know there is as many opinions regarding the cause of Rosacea as there are stars in the sky, due to its many aspects—it was only 30 years ago when it bore the incorrect diagnosis “Acne Rosacea” (when in fact both disorders are not related but can occur at the same time).

My firm and unshakable belief is this: Patient contracts the Demodex Mite, which can take up to six weeks to proliferate.

Mite activity puts pressure on the peripheral capillaries in the skin, which many times become congested thus backing up blood, which in turn becomes a “mini aneurism” that creates the red or “rose” flush to the skin.

With all this flame-like appearance it is logical that most estheticians would want to calm it down with ice and/or botanicals that are now anti-inflammatory and there is nothing wrong with this. It does help as a bandage but does not kill off the origin of the problem.

After the mites are destroyed, then the esthetician or physician can start the task of rebuilding the skin and all its defense mechanisms. This includes feeding the Langerhans Cells with their favorite food, high quality of Beta Glucans at strong percentages (not 0.1 % in a product just to put it on the label, high quality is expensive). New cells, free of mites also need good proteins including essential amino acids, co-enzymes and free radical scavengers.

At this point all the skin calming products and methods come into play and help tremendously for a long term controlled remission.

Does the gut have something to do with Rosacea?

That’s a whole other article!

DMK Founder - Danne Montague-King

A pioneer in his industry. Danné has seen the depths of depression associated with poorly functioning skin. In fact his everlasting passion was born from his dissatisfaction with his own acne as a teen. Many times he has shared the story of how his parents would take him to lavish events where he would find a dark corner to hide away in, ashamed of this blemished skin. Not understanding the condition completely, and after failed attempts from top US dermatologists to cure his acne, Danné took things into his own hands and desperate for a cure, became his own guinea pig. A string of breakthroughs, trials and tribulations, and many travels would follow, until he found his first true breakthrough in the 60’s involving vitamin C therapy.

That’s all it took to spark what would be decades of developing successful treatments and products that would combine to form the iconic brand that is DMK – sold throughout 30 countries. For 50 years Danné has lived by his motto: rebuilding skin, rebuilding lives.

Dedicated to his craft, his practicing therapists, and his clients, Danné is the founder of the DMK family and is responsible for rebuilding skin, and rebuilding lives all over the world.

DMK Concept – Remove, Rebuild, Protect, Maintain

DMK believes that the origin of most skin conditions is a result of disharmony within the skin. Using the principles of biochemistry, DMK has formulated a range of treatments and products designed to educate skin to perform like youthful healthy skin. By matching formulations with the body’s chemistry, the skin is encouraged to respond in a positive manner. DMK’s revolutionary concept of REMOVE, REBUILD, PROTECT, MAINTAIN aims to match an individual’s biochemistry with the appropriate skin therapy.
