With the popularity in use of GLP-1’s, a new conversation around how use of the drug effects the skin is taking shape. While the medications are effective and have few side effects, one side effect that is now considered very important is skin laxity. Because of the weight loss people are developing laxity fine lines, deep wrinkles and deeper nasolabial folds, which gives the appearance of accelerated aging.

Image Skincare launched VOL.U.LIFT for the face March 2025 and has recently released VOL.U.LIFT Body. Dr. Marc Ronert, CEO and Co-Founder of Image Skincare, said the company decided to develop VOL.U.LIFT for the face and VOL.U.LIFT Body to address the needs of people who use GLP 1’s and were experiencing skin laxity in their face and body. Image Skincare did a clinical study and research around the phenomenon of skin changes as a result of GLP-1 use. That clinical research looked at specific skin conditions on GLP-1 users. The clinical studies Image Skincare did specifically used patients who are on that medications and experienced the effects and the negative side effects and designed something specific for it.

Ronert said the skin changes people are experiencing include loss of elasticity, loss of bounciness of the skin. He said when volume is lost in the skin in such a dramatic way, it results in collagen loss, lax and loose skin and crepey skin. He said when VOL.U.LIFT for the face was launched, it was so well-received that people wanted to know when Image Skincare would release something for the body.

“When you lose 50, 60 pounds, your skin doesn’t have the ability to adapt to such a dramatic weight change in such a short period of time,” he said.

Ronert said that while the weight loss that people are experiencing because of GLP-1 use is transformative, there are things happening internally to the person’s body that affect the skin. He said it is not just a reduction of fat cells, it is also affecting the skin resulting in dehydration, sagging, loss of tone and deep wrinkles. He said the patients are not aging faster, but it gives the appearance of accelerated aging. He said that people want to loose the weight and still want to look young and dynamic and keep the bounciness in their skin.

Ronert said that VOL.U.LIFT can be used on its own as part of a person’s skincare routine. People can use VOL.U.LIFT Body the same way they use a body lotion, massaging it into areas of concern, morning and evening. a can also be combined with other methods and more invasive therapies.

“It’s great tool to have in order for the patient to do something at home everyday,” he said.

With VOL.U.LIFT Body, people can see results in phases. Ronert said right after application, the skin will be significantly more hydrated, the crepiness of the skin will be reduced. He said after the second, third and fourth week, users will see enhanced firmness, improved elasticity and a more toned appearance. He said that by using it consistently every day, morning and evening, people will see great results.

Ronert said that the response for VOL.U.LIFT for the face and VOL.U.LIFT Body has been very positive. He said that people who have used it have been very satisfied using the products.

“When you talk about GLP-1 medication, and you are trying to find a topical solution Image Skincare is really the one skincare brand that is specifically designed for that,” Ronert said.

While VOL.U.LIFT Body is currently available to professionals, it will be made available on Image Skincare’s online platform on August 24.
