Get the Look: 3 Nail How-Tos From the Emmy Awards 2022

Sep 13th, 2022

Television's brightest stars shined last night at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards, and their nails were no exception.

We break down three nail how-tos below so you can provide showstopping nails to your clients.

Mindy Kaling

Celebrity manicurist Thuy Nguyen created a fun French tip to complement presenter Mindy Kaling’s sunny, yellow dress.

Get the Look:

  1. Prep nails with alcohol to remove oil residue.
  2. Lightly buff nails with e-file, just enough to remove natural shine.
  3. Brush on Aprés Nail Extend Gel on appropriately sized nails in preparation to cure.
  4. Hold gel nail down with dominant hand, and use nondominant hand to turn on cure light.
  5. Once cured, file nails to shape, if necessary, and polish.

HoYeon Jung

Celebrity manicurist Yoko Sakakura created a beautiful nail look on Squid Games star HoYeon Jung, a nominee for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

Get the Look:

  1. Clean cuticle, file and shape nails, then apply alcohol to prep for gel.
  2. Apply Aprés Nail Base Gelcoat, and cure in a nail lamp for 60 seconds.
  3. Apply an even coat of Aprés Nail's newest Gel Couleur collection in shade #284, and cure for 60 seconds. Repeat for a second coat.
  4. Apply Aprés Nail Non-Wipe Glossy Top Gelcoat, and cure for 60 seconds.
  5. Apply cuticle oil and hand moisturizer to finish the look.

Reese Witherspoon

Thuy Nguyen also manicured Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series nominee Reese Witherspoon, using products from Manucurist's Green Flash line. You can achieve a similar, upscale look following steps from Nguyen herself.

Get the Look:

  1. Wipe nails clean.
  2. Apply a thin coat of Manucurist's Green Flash Base Coat.
  3. Follow with one coat of Green Flash Hortencia, and cure for 30 seconds.
  4. Apply a second coat of Green Flash Pale Rose, and cure for 30 seconds.
  5. Finish with one thin coat of Green Flash Sugarcane Natural Top Coat.
