Seppic presented a range of ingredients and formulas during In-cosmetics Global focused on the growing demand for naturality, skin sensitivity and sensorial experiences. Through a showcase of advanced actives and excipients, the company emphasized how carefully selected ingredients can deliver both performance and consumer appeal.

Ganocalm: A Natural Solution for Sensitive Skin

Ganocalm (INCI: Propanediol (and) Ganoderma Lucidum (Mushroom) Extract) is an active ingredient developed to address the needs of sensitive skin, an increasingly common concern among global consumers, the company reports. Sourced from Ganoderma lucidum (Reishi), an adaptogenic mushroom traditionally used in Chinese medicine, Ganocalm approaches sensitive skin from three angles:

  • Modulating the activation of sensory receptors (in vitro) and reducing stinging by 15.6× vs. placebo** after 5 min of application (in vivo);
  • Limiting local inflammation (in vitro) and reducing redness by 2.5× times vs. placebo** within the first hour of application (in vivo); and
  • Strengthening the skin barrier (in vitro) and increasing skin hydration by 1.3× vs. placebo** after one hour (in vivo).

Ganocalm is COSMOS certified and NaTrue approved with 100% naturalness according to the ISO 16128 norm. It is also halal certified and compliant with Chinese regulations (IECSC and IECIC).

Natural Geltrap Technology: Evolving Emulsions

Seppic also introduced a natural version of its Geltrap technology, a cold-processed gel-in-oil (g/o) emulsion system reportedly known for high water content, rich sensorial textures and versatility across cosmetic applications.

The updated version replaces synthetic emulsifiers and rheology modifiers with natural alternatives, including:

  • Solagum GM (INCI: Glucomannan), a thickening agent derived from Amorphophallus muelleri tubers, that offers moisturizing benefits and a soft, cushiony feel; and
  • Fluidanov 20X (INCI: Octyldodecanol (and) Octyldodecyl Xyloside), a glycolipid co-emulsifier of natural origin that reportedly stabilizes the low-oil phase while enhancing texture.

This natural Geltrap maintains the benefits of the original system, including water resistance, long-lasting fragrance in perfumed products, and improved ease of combing in hair care, the company reports.

'Beauty Box Office Movie Hit' Collection

Finally, Seppic revealed its conceptual formulation collection, “The Beauty Box Office Movie Hit,” which is designed to explore the emotional and sensory potential of cosmetics inspired by popular films. The collection of six formulas highlights the role of excipients and active ingredients in providing structure, enhancing sensoriality and telling a story through cosmetic application.

Two examples are as follows.

Let It Freeze: In the "Let It Freeze" face care formula, inspired by Frozen, ingredients such as Sepimax Zen (INCI: Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6), Solagum Tara (INCI: Caesalpinia Spinosa Gum) and Sepinov WEO (INCI: Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer) work together to create a snow globe-like gel with suspended emulsion spheres, showcasing the visual and structural possibilities of modern rheology systems.

Ode to Mother Nature: The "Ode to Mother Nature" body cream concept, reflecting the movie Avatar, features Ganocalm alongside other plant-based actives such as Ceramosides HP (INCI: Glycosphingolipids (and) Glycolipids) and Aspar’Age (INCI: Water (Aqua) (and) Propanediol (and) Asparagopsis Armata Extract). The emulsion structure is supported by Montanov 202 (INCI: Arachidyl Alcohol (and) Behenyl Alcohol (and) Arachidyl Glucoside), designed to mimic the organization of skin lipids for improved hydration and barrier support.
