@colorbykyliemyst:
One year I put scrunchies in clear ornaments with a ribbon and a thank-you note.
@aprilg_hairstrologylV:
Contact your distributors or reps and see if they can offer travel sizes of hair products. Include a business card and maybe a little note since this year has been a wild ride.
@spencerlaineartistry:
I am the gift lol.
@projectcosmetology:
We have mini gift boxes hanging in a tree with anything from discounts, products or free treatments. Clients love it!
@becca.mutchler:
I did a written card and a candy cane! It took a long time to do the cards, but it meant so much.
@clairdoeshair:
I usually do a tiered gift system. Top 10 get a full-size shampoo and conditioner set, candy and a handwritten thank you. The next 10 get a deluxe sample set, candy and a handwritten thank you. Everyone else gets 2 mini products, candies and a printed thank-you card that I sign.
@hairwithsaradise:
Everyone gets a handwritten Christmas card and my OGs get a free full-size product and a candle.
@hairbyjanellatessa:
I make my family’s recipe of pizzelles and wrap them for my clients who always love them.
@stylistmocha:
Last year, it was satin pillowcases and cookies. It’s so nice to be able to spoil your clients a bit. What would you do without them?
@lightened.n.lifted:
This year I’m doing cute shower caps.
@leigh_c2021:
Extra hours and days in December to squeeze everyone in.
@fabiantamayo:
A microfiber towel.
@sarahjartistry:
Last year, I started donating to a local charity of the client’s choice in their honor.
@mystylistsellecca:
Last year I did travel-size Poo-Pourri because 2020 was pretty crappy.
@diannaallen:
I usually offer holiday-inspired cocktails and chocolates.
@fairclothfancy:
I usually do a gift card to some of my favorite local businesses, such as coffee shops, bakeries, etc.

Gifting Gurus
Beauty Launchpad educators Drew Inge (@domyhairdrew) and Yara de la Torre (@yaradoeshair) share how they spread the spirit of the season around their salon and make clients feel like friends.
When it comes to gifting your clients with something special for the holidays, the possibilities range from a sweet handwritten note to top-of-the line hair care products and everything in between. Regardless of what you decide to give them, the adage remains: It’s the thought that counts.
Beauty Launchpad (BLP): Do you give clients holiday gifts?
Drew Inge (DI): I do give gifts to my clients; it’s important for my business model that clients feel like a part of my life.
BLP: Do you give something to all your clients or just the most loyal ones?
DI: This year I’m doing things differently. I have a handful of clients who have been with me since hair school, and they will receive special gifts. As for my other amazing clients, they will pull a number and get the gift that coincides to whatever number they pull.
BLP: What tips do you have for gifting clients? Does it need to be hair care-inspired? In a certain price range?
DI: I typically do hair care-inspired gifts and a little candy and/or a sweet treat. This year I’m going to wrap 75 individual small gifts, including gift cards, which will include a new product that I’m carrying. These will be the gifts that the clients pull numbers for.
Strategic Gifting
When it comes to showing clients some year-end love, de la Torre is all about strategic gifting. “Every client gets a holiday card featuring a photo of our team wishing them ‘Happy Holidays’ and a little envelope with two special cards,” she explains. “The first card will be for a free conditioning treatment with every service. The second card will be a coupon for a ‘buy any two full-size products, get one full-size product free’ deal.”
De la Torre adds, “The most important part is that these little gift cards will only be redeemable until February 28th, encouraging your clients to come in the first two months of the year to see you.”
