Change can feel impossible to control, let alone predict or respond to without the tools. Our skin can feel similarly out of our control as we encounter stress, poor sleep or...less than ideal habits. Luckily, skin is one of the few lifelong accountability partners we get and unlike general change, we can always just call a professional.

As beauty embraces holistic solutions that are aimed at long-term, healthy and balanced results, estheticians and spa professionals are in a position to constantly elevate their approach to the skin care and concerns.

Still, for skin and spa professionals, acne and compromised skin bring unique obstacles both in treatment and in business. Knowing how to help, how to talk about it and when to refer out can be challenging, especially amongst misinformation and regulatory shifts.

In our acne awareness month issue, industry experts cover the topic (and more) with tips on maximizing care within your license, strategies for handling compromised skin in male clients and making sure you’re up to date with the science surrounding acne and acne care.
