COURSE DESCRIPTION: One of the most glamorous and exciting areas of cosmetology is the area of makeup artistry. The application of makeup enhances all aspects of hair design, styling, coloring and fashion. This class offers the professional instructor an innovative and inspiring approach to presenting the makeup module in the cosmetology classroom. A review of the fundamental techniques of applying makeup is also presented, along with artistic development exercises, and how to encourage confidence in students when they are learning to apply makeup. Attention is paid to the importance of the SMA for the makeup artist, and the sanitation, disinfection and sterilization of the work area, tools, brushes and protecting the client. COURSE HIGHLIGHTS: This highly informative class is designed to assist the educator in enhancing the skill sets for the cosmetology professional desiring to work with fashion and the trade show sector of cosmetology. Many cosmetology students have the strong desire to expound on their visual and tactile skills, and acquire a greater understanding into the world of makeup artistry. This class will pay particular attention to the application of makeup for the photography & platform specialty areas of the beauty industry. This class will include the DTAE requirements to be met for instructor license renewal.
