It seems everyone is taking selfies these days, but some patients are not liking what they see on the other end of the lens. Luckily, there are several noninvasive treatments on the market to fix those problem areas.

Michelle Doran, nurse practitioner and co-owner of RN Esthetics in Lynnfield, Massachusett, said often times, patients will bring the “a-ha moment” photo with them to their appointment so they can pinpoint exactly what they don’t like to the practitioner.

Noninvasive Treatment Options

Most commonly, patients want to improve the quality of their skin, and lessen volume loss, neck sagging and wrinkles, according to Doran.

“We need to help with overall skin health, which can include medical skin care products, peels, lasers, injectables and more.” —Michelle Doran, nurse practitioner and co-owner of RN Esthetics

Treatment options include:

  • HydraFacial MD: The hydradermabrasion device rejuvenates the skin using four-in-one Vortex Technology to create a vortex effect to dislodge and remove impurities while simultaneously introducing hydrating skin solutions. The handpiece and HydroPeel tip allow for exfoliation, aggressive exfoliation, Vortex-Fusion and extractions.
  • Botox and  Fillers: Doran notes that Botox and other fillers are used sparingly to give a natural, refreshed look, without appearing frozen or overfilled. Botox can help soften wrinkles and open up the eye area, creating a more awake and refreshed appearance. Voluma is a form of hyaluronic acid that contours and lifts the cheek area, and can help soften the mid and lower face.
  • Ultherapy: This “noninvasive face lift” uses ultrasound to lift the skin on the neck, under the chin, on the eyebrow area, as well as reduce lines and wrinkles on the décolleté.
  • Cryolipolysis: This is a method of freezing fat cells without harming the surrounding tissue. The treatment requires no downtime and has a high percentage of patient satisfaction.

Tailor Treatments to Your Clients

Doran advises patients to seek medical spas that offer customizable treatment plans tailored for each individual.

“Those who only offer injectables are putting the cart before the horse,” she said. “We need to help with overall skin health, which can include medical skin care products, peels, lasers, injectables and more.”
