PBA's Salon & Spa Performance Index Hits Lowest Level in Two Years

The Expectations Index, which measures salon/spa owners' six-month outlook on five industry indicators (service sales, retail sales, employees and hours, capital expenditures, and business conditions) fell to 103.5% - down .9% from second quarter 2011 and 1.7% from the third quarter 2010. Even with lowered expectations, 55% of salon/spa owners intend to expand staffing levels in the months ahead. The majority of salon/owners do not expect to make capital improvements in the next six months.
