Sharing Ideas

In our offices, we currently are gearing up for a lot of exciting things—our annual corporate strategic planning is well underway, which sparks many great new ideas that will flourish into reality during the coming year, as well as those to come. An excellent past example of this is Skin Inc. magazine’s annual Best of the Best Awards competition. I always find it energizing to sit down and focus—for an entire, uninterrupted day—on the future direction of the magazine and its ancillary products. It inspires the imagination, as well as much discussion, for the weeks and months that follow about ways to deliver an even better product.

And, quite literally as you read this, I will be returning from another Asian trend-spotting adventure with publisher Annette Delagrange. I will report more about my sure-to-be-fascinating trip to Singapore in a future issue, and you undoubtedly will feel this trip’s influences throughout the pages of the magazine in 2007. Despite the grueling 23 hours of one-way in-air flight time, I find such journeys exhilarating. I enjoy meeting with spa experts across the globe to discuss what issues they are facing, and where they see the industry heading.

March also is a crucial point in time from the perspective of Face & Body® 2007 Spa & Healthy Aging Conference and Expo’s Advanced Education Conference Program, which will take place on Saturday, August 25, at Moscone South in San Francisco. Each year, we read and analyze hundreds of well-thought out applications. Unfortunately, only a handful of these superb topics can be chosen for presentation. This year, based on attendee feedback, we’ve tweaked the program lineup to best suit your educational needs. This year’s tracks will include the ever-popular Owner’s Forum, this year focusing on Profitability; as well as Esthetic Science; Healthy Aging; Spa, MD; and Trends, which will include international experts addressing trends around the globe. Sessions will run from 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the depth of information being shared. As the program is confirmed, updates will be posted on our Web site, www.SkinInc.com, as will other details regarding this fantastic show. Do mark your calendar and plan to join us in San Francisco as we celebrate our 15-year anniversary.

Hopefully your spring months will offer new and exciting ventures for your business, as well. I would love to hear about your aspirations and goals for the year. Drop me a line or give me a call, and let me help you lend your voice to the industry this year. After all, there is nothing better than a great idea that is shared.

Until next month,

Melinda Taschetta-Millane
