The Professional Beauty Association (PBA) recently held its annual Lobbying Day in Washington, D.C. Comprised of industry volunteers from all sections of the organization’s membership, attendees converged on Capitol Hill to meet with members of Congress and their legislative teams to promote the Small Business Tax Equalization Act, which was reintroduced for 2011. The passage of the act would help the industry by providing skin care facility owners with additional funds to reinvest in their businesses. The professionals also participated in the Welcome to Our World event, providing members of Congress with complimentary nail services, haircuts, massages and even eyebrow threading in order to educate them about the beauty industry. 800-468-2274

President and founder of Repêchage, Lydia Sarfati, made a visit to the Repêchage UK headquarters in Manchester, England, hosting an exclusive event for spa professionals showcasing the company’s brands. In other company news, Sarfati, and daughter and company vice president Shiri Sarfati, were recently invited to be the judges for the Empire Future Professionals makeup competition in Hershey, PA, where 2,500 future professionals gathered for the competition.
