San Francisco Institute of Esthetics Gives Back
The San Francisco Institute of Esthetics and Cosmetology (SFIEC) is donating money to the American Forests conservation organization’s Global ReLeaf program each time an SFIEC student purchases a training kit. To date, the SFIEC has funded the planting of more than 50 trees. Students and teachers at the SFIEC also participated in a “Days of Beauty” event put on by On Lok SeniorHealth where they treated area senior citizens to a variety of spa and beauty services. 866-734-3244
Spa Industry Mourns Linda Brewer
Linda Brewer, industry pioneer and advisory board member for The Day Spa Associaton, passed away in February after battling ovarian cancer. She helped found both the American Cancer Society's Look Good ... Feel Better program and the Uniquely-U Organization, a charity that focused on rehabilitative cosmetic procedures. Industry Mourns Passing of Helga Van Dyke
Helga Van Dyke, creator and CEO of the Helga Van Dyke Skin Care Company and ReViate skin care products, passed away on the evening of January 9, 2007, after battling a long-term illness. She was involved in the well-being of skin care for almost 40 years and had personally touched the lives of thousands of individuals across the country. Her son, David Van Dyke, continues as president of the company.
