Hot New Ingredient: Bovine Colostrum Formulated into Skin Care Line

Le Mystére LLC, a lingerie marketer, has created a skin care line formulated with the after-birth secretion of a milk cow. Le Mystére Skin is a line of four skin care products that include bovine colostrum, the first fluid food produced by the milk cow's mammary glands during the first 48 hours after giving birth.

The purpose of colostrum is to transfers immunity and protection against diseases from a mother to her newborn. It is said to contain high levels of protein and antibodies.

The colostrum used by the company comes from Alps cows and meets the standards of the German Organic legislation. The company also maintains that the immune and growth factors in bovine colostrum are virtually identical to those in human colostrum with bovine colostrum surpassing human colostrum 40 times over in immune factors

The material is a natural balance of hormones, amino acids, vitamins and minerals and contains powerful immune factors and growth hormones reportedly beneficial to humans of all ages. The ingredient contains immunoglobulins such as IgG, IgA, IgD, IgE, and Ig1, which neutralize toxins and fight viruses and bacteria. It also contains cytokines and lactoferrin and growth factors.

Skin cream containing bovine colostrum is said to deliver moisture and nutrients while providing a protective barrier. The company maintains that human cells may be more adapted for colostrum than phytochemicals.

According to the company, the antibodies help clear the skin, may restore the viability of connective tissue, increases moisture content and may decrease the depth of wrinkles. The company first decided to create a skin care brand after Michael Rabinowitz, the company's CEO, heard of a dermatologist in India that was giving patients a cream that cleared their skin.
