1. Wood’s Lamp

A Wood’s lamp adds an intriguing touch of science to the world of healing and corrective facial treatments. This diagnostic tool works its magic by emitting a gentle stream of ultraviolet (UV) light, specifically in the soothing long-wave ultraviolet A (UVA) spectrum. When this lamp takes center stage in a dimly lit room, it coaxes certain hidden substances such as oil and even infection lurking beneath the skin to be seen in a vibrant display of colors, which are then able to be identified.

While acquiring a Wood’s lamp may not seem like a direct boost to your income, harnessing the power of this remarkable tool will undoubtedly enhance your practice. Building trust with your clients while using the Wood’s lamp, or any other diagnostic tool, is an essential step when establishing a strong client-provider relationship. Once you’ve grasped your clients’ needs and desires, it’s time to utilize the following devices to deliver the top-notch treatment you’ve strived for.

2. Microcurrent

The most heartfelt desire expressed by my wonderfully mature clients is a simple plea: “Brenda, I need you to lift and tighten my face,” followed by the manipulation of their cheeks and jaw line. I know you know what I am talking about. As I embrace the passage of time, often referred to as aging, I’ve come to appreciate the convenience of handheld devices that effortlessly integrate into my daily routine, at home and at the spa. This treatment is the magic of microcurrent technology.

A microcurrent device is a small electronic device that delivers low-level electrical currents to the skin or muscles for therapeutic and cosmetic purposes. Microcurrent devices are used for facial rejuvenation and anti-aging treatments. Low-level electrical currents are applied to the facial muscles, in a specific pattern and direction, toning and firming them, resulting in the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles. Consequently, your clients may experience the benefits of lifted brows, a sculpted jawline and a flawlessly smooth forehead.

There are different sizes and strengths of microcurrent devices available to professionals and the general public. The strength or intensity of microcurrent can vary among different devices. It is so important to educate your clients about these distinctions, as there may be a misconception that comparable results can be achieved through microcurrent devices available at well-known retail stores.

Developing a treatment plan that involves closely spaced microcurrent sessions, typically scheduled once a week or even every few days, over a predetermined period, is key. This initial series typically encompasses six to 12 sessions and aims to provide clients with an initial boost, accelerating their progress towards achieving their desired skin improvements.
