Eyes on Cancer Educating About Melanoma

Eyes on Cancer has a mission to ensure that all skin and hair care professionals know how to detect and identify early stages of skin cancer. The nonprofit organization has an online subscription system for individuals, salons and schools.

“Identifying skin cancer in an early stage dramatically improves the prognosis,” explained Jeanne Braa Foster, co-founder of Eyes on Cancer. She further explains how the courses that Eyes on Cancer provides has a keen focus on visual awareness because spa professionals are visual people that can more easily spot skin cancer risks in hard-to-see places.

This program has a one-time fee of $10 that allows beauty professionals to receive access to the online course. Foster's goal is to have trained 20,000 beauty professionals by 2020, and hope to partner with beauty brands in the future to increase awareness even more.

Don't miss out on learning more about melanoma and spotting the signs of skin cancer at Face & Body Northern California for the classes on Aug 26 and 27 from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. and from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m., respectively.
