Nootropics Gain Popularity in Spas and Wellness

While supplements and ingestible beauty have become a rising trend in 2018, it's predicted that this wellness trend is going to be taken to a whole new level. This trend relies a little more mental health focused, with supplements changing from beauty to brains. It's predicted that cognition supplements will have a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of close to 14% from 2018-22.¹Meanwhile, the Brain Health Supplement Market as a whole, is predicted to be worth $11.6 billion by 2024.²

Understanding Nootropics

More specifically, Nootropics are growing in popularity. Nootropics are supplements engineered to boost cognitive performance and help the brain perform at an optimal level.²The supplements help to boost energy, while improving sleep as well for an overall health and wellness benefit.

Many nootropics are made with creatine and choline, which have been commonly used as a memory promoter. Caffeine is popularity seen among different brands for brain boosting supplements as well to help boost energy. Curcumin is often used in these supplements as well, and it has been shown to protect the brain while improving memory, energy, mood and stress functions.³

Nootropics in the Spa and Wellness

Wellness is a growing industry in the spa that is continuing to grow. Part of the focus on brain health is stemming from the growth in the wellness community, specifically the focus on mindful activities like yoga and meditation.⁵The Global Wellness Institute (GWI)predicts that brain fitness will not only grow in the wellness industry but move toward improving concentration and productivity of companies as well.⁶

The GWI also believes that these supplements are going to make waves in the spa industry as they are already becoming available in them. For example, the Six Senses are planning on stocking up on nootropics in their spa, and it is predicted that others will follow suit.⁶
