The Noel Asmar Group is celebrating its 17th anniversary.

The eponymous Noel Asmar first started her company—which includes Noel Asmar Uniforms, Noel Asmar Equestrian and Noel Asmar Collections—in 2002 with her husband, operating out of her basement. Today, that company has grown to a team of more than 30, with clients including resorts and spas such as the Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton and top equestrians including Lauren Kieffer.

A constant over the years has been Asmar’s commitment to support and empower women—not just through clothing, but also through workplace culture.

Soon after launching, Asmar noticed that many of the women applying to work for her were mothers looking to return to work after absence from the workforce, or those in need of flexible schedules and a stable income.

“Noel understood my challenges as a single mother with a child who had health issues,” said director of account and client relations Allison Nassey, who joined the team in 2005. “I was re-entering the work force at that time and it was necessary for me to have a flexible schedule so that I could attend to my daughter. I was and still am, grateful that Noel has been so accommodating to my needs. Not only was she accommodating but she was always willing to listen and provide helpful suggestions.”

A culture that places family first remains a core tenant of the business for Asmar, who sees herself as much a family person as an entrepreneur. “I consider that my biggest win in life,” said the designer. “Success in one without the other wouldn’t be success for me.”
